Strength

The Strength card is the 8th card in the 22 Major Arcana cards in tarot, typically depicted with a woman taming or interacting with a lion. The woman often wears a white robe, symbolizing purity, and a garland of flowers, which signifies nature and harmony. The lion represents raw passions and primal instincts.
Above the woman’s head, there is often an infinity symbol (a sideways figure eight), indicating infinite potential, balance, and the eternal nature of the soul. The background usually includes a calm and natural setting, reinforcing themes of peace and balance.
It signifies the inner fortitude and courage needed to overcome challenges. This strength is more about resilience and patience than brute force. The card encourages using compassion, patience, and understanding to deal with situations, suggesting that a gentle approach can be more effective than aggressive tactics. It reflects the importance of controlling one's emotions and instincts, maintaining composure and patience even in difficult circumstances. The card is a reminder to believe in oneself and one’s abilities, emphasizing self-confidence and self-assuredness.
One of my personal favorite cards. Whenever I see this card pop up in a reading as an upright character, I'm immediately drawn to it's meaning with whatever I may be struggling with, or see a path to victory in others for what they desire. Take care to note that a reverse meaning of this card may be quite the opposite: It can suggest a lack of confidence, self-doubt, or feeling overwhelmed by challenges. The reversed card may point to difficulties in controlling one’s emotions or impulses, leading to outbursts or impulsive behavior.
Key Traits: Inner strength, compassion and gentle power, self control, confidence and self esteem.
Key Traits (reversed): Weakness, self doubt, imbalance, abuse of power over others and yourself.
